Recipe for the Best Chili Ever

September 24, 2012

Since Saturday was the first official day of Fall, I made Chili for dinner to celebrate (even though it was like 90 degrees that day). I found this recipe quite a while ago and since then it's my go-to chili recipe. It is soooo good! The original recipe can be found here and as you can see, about 1,500 people agree! I make a few slight modifications to mine, and have since the beginning, so not too sure how much it alters the original taste.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

with slight adaptations
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 3 tbsp minced onion
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 2 1/2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 (8 oz) jar tomatoes & diced green chilies
  • 2 pkgs chili seasoning (I use 1 pkg per 1 pound of ground beef)
  • 1 (15oz) can light red kidney beans
  • 1 (15oz) can dark red kidney beans
  1. Brown meat in large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain grease.
  2. In a large saucepan, add the ground beef, black pepper, garlic salt, tomato sauce, tomatoes & diced green chilies, chili seasoning mix and kidney beans. Mix well, reduce heat to low and simmer for about an hour.
